So far, the answer to the question of custody of Michael Jackson’s kids has been answered. Or so, temporarily.
Katherine Jackson, Michael Jackson’s mother, has been given temporary custody of Michael Jackson’s three children, 12-year-old Michael Joseph Jackson Jr., 11-year-old Paris-Michael Katherine Jackson, and 7-year-old Prince Michael Jackson II (better known as “Blanket”). The three children have been with Katherine Jackson ever since Michael’s sudden death.
This is what the court has ruled but may be just “temporary”, especially if the mother of Michael Jackson’s two older children, Debbie Rowe, decides to go to court to take custody of the two. Given that she is the biological mother, she easily has a stronger case against Jackson’s mother or anyone for that matter.
Debbie Rowe’s attorney had this to say about what her client wants: “Ms. Rowe’s only thoughts at this time have been regarding the devastating loss Michael’s family has suffered. Ms. Rowe requests that Michael’s family, and particularly the children, be spared such harmful, sensationalist speculation and that they be able to say goodbye to their loved one in peace.”
Regarding Michael Jackson’s estate, a separate hearing on August 3 will determine who will get that.
Whether or not Michael Jackson left a will with specifics on who will get custody of his kids and his estate is a pressing matter that the authorities are trying to determine as soon as possible. If he did, then things will soon get complicated.
