Watch the free live stream of Floyd Mayweather VS. ”Sugar” Shane Mosley below. The Mayweather VS. Mosley boxing fight on May 1 is a welterweight megafight between two of the best boxers today.

After negotiations for a Pacquiao VS. Mayweather megafight failed, both parties moved on to other boxing matches. Manny Pacquiao fought and won over Joshua Clotty while Mayweather looked to Mosley. The war of words between Mayweather and Mosley has already erupted, with Floy consistently bashing Shane about his divorce and getting a tattoo at the age of 38.

Floyd Mayweather, Jr. has also gone on and on about how his boxing talent is God-given, compared to Mosley’s, which is just commendable. In an open-access workout interview last April 14, Mayweather said:

“Shane has talent, I have a gift.  A God-given gift.”

Mayweather also proclaimed that there is no blueprint to beating him in the boxing ring, while such a thing exists for Mosley, having been defeated five times already. In a brief assessment of “Sugar” Shane, Floyd stated:

“Mosley has problems with boxers.  He lost to Winky Wright from a one-handed jab in his face all night long.  Now he is facing someone sharp as a razor with two hands.  He has been dropped and wobbled on numerous occasions.  If he tries to bum rush me, he is going to get clipped.”

Six-time World Champion Floyd “Money” Mayweather will go up against five-time World Champion and current WBA Welterweight World Champion “Sugar” Shane Mosley on Saturday, May 1 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Mayweather post-fight interview, scuffle with Mosley (VIDEO)

20 September 2009

Watch the video interview of Floyd Mayweather, Jr. after his boxing win over Juan Manuel Marquez below. The post-fight interview of Mayweather consisted mainly of his dodging weight issues, getting annoyed by the interviewer, and a scuffle with potential opponent “Sugar” Shane Mosley.
Mayweather, upon getting irritated by Mosely and the interviewer who frequently cut him off, told the interviewer:
“I’m gonna do the talking because you’re doing too much talking.”
The Mayweather post-fight interview video also showed Floyd dodging weight issues and never got started with having Manny Pacquiao as his next opponent. The interviewer also stopped Mayweather from thanking his sponsors, which probably drew the ire of “Money”.
In the end, a Mayweather almost fought with Mosley before they were separated by Golden Boy staff. Mosley interrupted the Mayweather interview and is probably looking to get into the mix with Mayweather before Pacquiao can, who is set to square off against Miguel Cotto in the next big boxing event.

Mayweather VS. Marquez results: Mayweather defeats Marquez

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , ,

20 September 2009

Floyd Mayweather, Jr. defeated Juan Manuel Marquez and announced to the world that “He’s Back!” in their boxing match at the MGM Grand. Mayweather completely dominated the Mexican Marquez for all 12 rounds of the fight. Mayweather knocked down Marquez in the second round with a left hook to the chin and won almost every round in the eyes of the boxing judges.
The dominant Mayweather win over Marquez signified his return to the boxing scene and possibly to the top of the pound-for-pound (P4P) rankings. Michael Buffer announced the Floyd Mayweather win with “He’s back!” after all three judges awarded him a unanimous decision victory. All three judges awarded the fight to Floyd Mayweather, Jr., with the following scores: 118-109, 120-107, 119-108.
Mayweather delivered a solid left hook to the chin of Marquez that sent the Mexican down on the canvas at the 1:25 mark of the second round. It was merely a sign of things to come for Juan Manuel, who was thoroughly outclassed by “Money” for the next 10 rounds. Marquez was visibly slower, weaker, and older than his opponent, Mayweather, who got into a scuffle with “Sugar” Shane Mosley and the ring interviewer after the fight.
The punches landed percentage was a clear indicator of the Mayweather-Marquez results. Floyd connected on 290/493 for a 59% connect percentage, while Marquez was a lowly 69-583 for 12%.
With the Floyd Mayweather win over Juan Manuel Marquez, Mayweather improved his win-loss record to 40-0 while Marquez dropped to 50-5-1.

Mosley challenges Pacquiao again, even at 140 lbs

"Sugar" Shane Mosley

After Pacquiao-Cotto negotiations have all but broken down, “Sugar” Shane Mosley has once again stepped up onto the plate. After accepting a 40-60 purse split, Mosely has laid out the final challenge: He will fight Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao at 140 lbs. Mosley reiterated his challenge to Pacquiao:

“I’m going down to 140 lbs. and I want to fight Pacquiao for his belt because that’s a belt I had never won.”

Pacquiao is currently the top pound-for-pound fighter, the reigning International Boxing Organization (IBO), and The Ring Magazine junior welterweight champion. Mosley, on the other hand, is the current World Boxing Association (WBA) welterweight champion. Mosley even offered before to go down to 144 lbs., apart from the 40-60 purse split in favor of Pacquiao.

When asked about his second challenge to Pacquiao, Mosely had this to say:

“I thought about my legacy and my history. I think that me being willing to fight and the only thing that stands between us is 143 or 144 and we’re going back and forth and he’s playing games with Cotto.”

Mosley believes that with this new offer, Pacquiao and Top Rank promoter Bob Arum have no more excuses not to fight him.

“I’m ready for him to say, ‘yes, let’s go ahead and do it’ and let’s fight. I mean, there should be no excuses. There should be no hold ups for Bob Arum or nobody. I’m the only one stepping up to the plate and willing to do something, willing to fight, willing to give the fans what they want… a great fight.”

This seems like the fight that Manny Pacquiao has always wanted – 140 lbs., purse in his favor, etc. What more can Pacquiao ask for? Or would you rather see a Pacquiao-Cotto fight?

Pacquiao Cotto VS Pacquiao Mosley

"Sugar" Shane Mosley

Sugar” Shane Mosley has finally thrown in the towel – on a Manny Pacquiao superfight, that is.

After numerous attempts at luring the Pound-for-Pound King, Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao, World Boxing Association (WBA) welterweight champion “Sugar” Shane Mosley has given up on trying to set up a megafight with the Filipino icon.

“Shane’s legacy is intact, and it’s not dependent on a Pacquiao yes or no,” Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer proudly exclaimed. In the recent past, Mosley, has  even offered a 40-60 split in favor of Pacquiao but has finally had enough with the useless negotiations. Puerto Rican and World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight champion Miguel Cotto seems to be next in line for Pacquiao and it does not appear to change anytime soon. If things go as planned, the world will witness Pacquiao-Cotto on the 14th of November this year.

Top Rank Promoter Bob Arum‘s intent at setting up a Pacquia0-Cotto megafight has been unwavering, especially since both Pacquiao and Cotto are part of Top Rank Promotions. This will result in Top Rank raking in a very huge chunk of the megafight revenues, unlike in a Pacquiao-Mosley fight where Golden Boy Promotions will eat a significant portion of the revenues because Mosley is a Golden Boy boxer.

Mosley has turned into sourgraper because of the unfavorable (at least for him) turn of events. “Shane says he’ll be the last man standing, anyway,” Schaefer adamantly stated.

Negotiations for the Pacquiao-Cotto match are ongoing. As for Mosley, he has already given the go signal for Schaefer to arrange a fight this year against possible contenders like Paul Williams, Joshua Clottey, Kermit Cintron, or Andre Berto, the World Boxing Council welterweight champion. After a decimation of Antonio Margarito, Schaefer disclosed that Mosley is supremely confident he can win his next fight and would thus inevitably draw the biggest fight of his career – whether it be against Pacquiao of Floyd “Money” Mayweather, Jr.

Which would you rather see? Pacquiao-Cotto or Pacquiao-Mosely?
