The late Cory Aquino will be buried beside her husband at the Manila Memorial Park on August 5 (Manila time).
Malacañang Palace, the White House of the Philippines, has declared August 5 as a special non-working holiday to commemorate the late former Philippine President Corazon “Cory” Aquino, who died at the age of 76 in her battle against colon cancer.
This will give Filipinos time to attend the final ceremonies for Cory Aquino, whose remains will be buried beside her late husband and Filipino hero, Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino, Jr. at the Manila Memorial Park. A mass will be held at 9 a.m. at the Manila Cathedral before the burial. Her wake is at the gymnasium of the school, La Salle Green Hills (LSGH) in Mandaluyong City, where public viewing is permitted.
In line with the death of Cory Aquino, current Philippine President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has cut short her United States trip and will arrive in the Philippines in the early morning of August 5 to be present at Aquino’s funeral service. The president had recently declared a 10-day period of national mourning (Aug. 1 to Aug. 10) over the death of Aquino.
