Paula Abdul
After news of Ryan Seacrest’s huge new contract with American Idol, bad fortunes appear for a diffrent Idol mainstay. Simply put, Paula Abdul may not even be returning to American Idol.
Paula Abdul’s new manager, David Sonenberg, who has only started representing the American Idol judge a few weeks ago, says the Paula Abdul camp was not given a new contract proposal for Abdul. It does not appear that Paula Abdul will be back as a judge in American Idol.
This judging panel revamp is happening approximately a month before the start of the auditions for the ninth season of the successful American Idol saga. This judging panel revamp after Fox Entertainment President Kevin Reilly called Abdul “an integral part of the show.”
What do you think of this change in lineup for the American Idol judges? Do you think Paula Abdul deserves to be back as an American Idol judge?

Apart from being the host of one of, if not the most successful reality TV show in history in American Idol, Ryan Seacrest has added another milestone in his hosting resume: the highest paid reality TV host ever.
Seacrest, the American Idol host who shares the celebrity podium with American Idol judges Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul, Kara DioGuardi, and the infamous Simon Cowell, has just been granted a raise – a $45 million raise – that extends his stint with “AI” for three more years.
The raise is more like a financial freedom plan, considering that Seacrest’s old contract gives him “only” $5 million per season and ensures a run at the hosting spot through 2012. Seacrest stated:
“I’m truly appreciative of being part of a show that has had such an enormous impact on popular culture across all ages.”
Simon Fuller, the creator of American Idol, had this praise to say about Ryan Seacrest:
“Ryan is an essential ingredient to American Idol’s success, and I am so happy that we will continue our relationship beyond ‘Idol’ into the future. Ryan is without doubt one of American television’s most talented stars.”
Seacrest could not contain his excitement for his new contract, as he twittered:
“Very excited about locking in a deal to host Idol for this season and the following 2.”
Apart from American Idol, Seacrest, also is a host at E! News, a daily radio show, and American Top 40.
With such a hefty contract, do you think that the other characters in the show – the four American Idol judges – deserve the same or even a more significant pay raise than American Idol host Ryan Seacrest? More interestingly, what do you think Simon could have said upon hearing the Seacrest’s good fortunes? “Appalling”?
