Madonna was booed by thousands of fans in Romania for condemning discrimination against Gypsies. During a break in her 2-hour concert for the “Sticky and Sweet” album tour, Madonna addressed the crowd:
“It has been brought to my attention that there is a lot of discrimination against Romanies and Gypsies in general in Eastern Europe.”
Majority of the 60,000 fans booed and jeered the pop icon Madonna. She further added:
“We don’t believe in discrimination. We believe in freedom and equal rights for everyone.”
Madonna also addressed the discrimination against homosexuals. The huge crowd responded with even more boos. There was a general consensus among the crowd that Madonna should have simply entertained rather than preech about their society’s beliefs.
Madonna performed one song with Gypsies or Roma performers as backup dancers. The Romanian crowd did not boo at this time and only did so when Madonna addressed the crowd about discrimination.

Chris Brown was sentenced to five years’ probation and six months’ community labor last Tuesday for the beating of ex-girlfriend Rihanna. Brown, singer of the hit songs “Forever” and “With You”, was also ordered to stay 100 yards away from Rihanna for the next five years. If Brown were to be proven guilty of violating these terms, he could be sent to state prison.
Brown will serve his sentence in Virginia, his home state. His community labor, on the other hand, will be overseen by the police chief in Richmond. The judge also addded that she will ensure that Brown performs physical labor instead of community service. This will include mentoring young people and undergoing domestic violence counseling for a year.
A probation report cited during the hearing revealed two other violent incidents. The first happened when the couple was traveling in Europe and Rihanna slapped Chris Brown during an argument that they had. This prompted Brown to shove Rihanna into a wall. The second instance happened in Barbados when Brown broke both the front and passenger side windows on a Range Rover they were driving.
Rihanna did not attend Chris Brown’s sentencing.
