Letterman was forced to admit the sexual affair scandal because of extortion. A man was blackmailing the Late Show host and had asked for $2 million. The extortionist has since been arrested and David Letterman has already testified before the Grand Jury.
Robert Halderman is the prime suspect of the David Letterman extortion scandal. CBS has suspended the 51-year-old suspect until the results of the investigation have been revealed.
Part of the Letterman sexual affair speech transcript included:
“I have had sex with women who work for me on this show. Now, my response to that is, ‘Yes I have.’”
While the audience laughed, Letterman continued:
“Would it be embarrassing if it were made public? Perhaps it would. I feel like I need to protect these people. I need to certainly protect my family.”
