Last Monday, Chris Brown publicly apologized for beating up his then-girlfriend Rihanna. This is the latest action from RnB superstar Chris Brown, after pleading guilty to the felony assault charge just last month. He faces sentencing for this on August 5, where he will likely to serve five years of probation and perform six months of community labor.
On the video, Brown refers to the beating as “the incident.” There, he admits that his conduct is inexcusable, but probably in his defense, he adds that he witnessed domestic violence growing up as a child. He will answer questions about the beating in the near future, but said he wanted to speak directly to his fans first. Chris Brown added:
“I saw firsthand what uncontrolled rage can do. I have sought and am continuing to seek help to ensure that what occurred in February can never happen again.”
Chris Brown then acknowledges that the beating has hurt his reputation - he has lost sponsorship deals, radio stations stopped playing his songs, and other artists condemned him after the attack. Adamant with his desire to clean up his act, Brown mentions:
“I intend to live my life so that I am truly worth of the term ‘role model.‘”
