02 December 2009

The Floyd Mayweather, Jr. VS. Manny Pacquiao boxing fight is all but done, sources say, and will most probably happen on March 13. It has been said that “Money” has agreed to the terms surrounding Mayweather VS. Pacquiao and that Top Rank Promoter Bob Arum will be going to the Philippines to finalize the deal with Pacquiao.
Mayweather-Pacquiao will have Las Vegas, Dallas, and New Orleans as suitors for holding the boxing fight. Mayweather VS. Pacquiao, a boxing fight featuring the current #1 pound-for-pound Filipino fighter against the former #1 P4P fighter before he retired, is expected to be the highest-grossing boxing match in history.
Boxing fans have clamored for Mayweather VS. Pacquiao after both had excellent matches against their last opponents. Pacquiao smothered and knocked down Cotto twice to earn a TKO win while Mayweather won a convincing unanimous decision over Juan Manuel Marquez. Mayweather VS. Pacquiao will pit the intelligent tactician of a boxer against the phenomenal, non-stop fighter.
Top Rank and Golden Boy had initially set May 1 as the Mayweather VS. Pacquiao fight date but opted against it, after Manny Pacquiao had filed for a seat in Philippine Congress. The Philippine elections will be held on May 10. As such, Mayweather Vs. Pacquiao had to be moved to March 13, instead of pushing it back to a later date.

Klitschko-Arreola results: Klitschko defeats Arreola via TKO

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , ,

27 September 2009

Vitali Klitschko defeated Chris Arreola to retain the World Boxing Council (WBC) Heavyweight Title via Technical Knockout (TKO) at the end of the 10th round. In the Klitschko VS. Arreola fight, Vitali Klitschko utlized his jab to keep Chris Arreola at bay and flustered the challenger all throughout the boxing match, much as how Floyd Mayweather defeated Juan Manuel Marquez a week earlier.
Klitschko thus retains his WBC Heavyweight Championship at the Staples Center, as he bloodied Arreola’s face early in the fight. Circling and jabbing Arreola constantly, Vitali almost shut the eyes of the challenger midway through the fight.
Henry Ramirez, the trainer of Chris Arreola, stopped the fight on behalf of his boxer at the end of the tenth round, which Arreola did not like. Ramirez stated about the Klitschko VS. Arreola results:
“He was taking too much punishment. When I told him I was going to stop the fight, he was irate. It was not an easy decision, but we had discussed it and I had to do it.”
The punches landed percentages revealed the results of the Klitschko-Arreola fight, as Vitaly Klitschko landed 301 of 802 punches for a 38% clip, while Chris Arreola only managed to land 86 of his 331 punches for a lowly 26%. In addition, the boxer from Ukraine landed a 151 of 283 power punches for 53 percent clip.
Before Klitschko defeated Arreola via TKO, Arreola kept coming back. Klitschko stated about the TKO:
“I was surprised he did not come out. This was a hard fight, like I expected. I know I was hurting him a lot, but he has a great, great chin. He’s a tough fighter, but I worked the body.”
Regardless of the Klitschko VS. Arreola fight results, Klitschko was ahead on all three scorecards. He was up 99-91 on two scorecards while one judge had it 100-89.
