Watch Paula Abdul imitate Ellen DeGeneres at “Divas Live” of VH1, after Abdul lost her “American Idol” judging job to Ellen. Abdul, dressed as Ellen DeGeneres, complete with a short blonde wig and black pants, asked the audience:
“Why are you all staring at me? Can’t a girl try out for a new job?”

At the event “Divas Live”, Abdul not only dressed up like Ellen but also imitated her by doing the Ellen dance and made her way to a set that appeared like The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Abdul admits, though, that this is all good-natured fun, saying:
“All kidding aside. [I have] nothing but love for Ellen, and I wish you the best of luck and congratulations on your new gig. And call me! You gotta call me if you have any Simon problems, ’cause you know, I know him best.”
Apart from “Divas Live”, Paula Abdul performed at another VH1 special at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York City. There, she sang her hits like “Straight Up”, “Forever Your Girl, and “Opposites Attract.”
She opened the show by imitating American Idol host Ryan Seacrest, saying:
“I’m Paula Abdul, and this is not ‘American Idol!’”
The “Divas Live” special by VH1 also included performances by music stars like Jennifer Hudson, Miley Cyrus, and Kelly Clarkson.
Paula Abdul has always been an American Idol judge but for the first time will not be one in the upcoming AI season. Other AI judges include Randy Jackson, Kara Dioguardi, and the infamous Simon Cowell.
This AI judge replacement comes after the continuous criticism hurled at Paula Abdul for being too nice to contestants – a complete opposite to Simon – and the pay hike given to Ryan Seacrest.
A slew of temporary AI judges like Victoria Beckham took Abdul’s place before a permanent judging post was offered to Ellen. Because DeGeneres is not a professional music artist or performer, the decision to include her in the judging panel has been met with much criticism from some fans, though her clever rhetoric is expected to compensate and give Cowell a run for his money.
