The Mike Tyson interview by Oprah Winfrey was emotional for the boxer, who talked about the death of his 4-year-old daughter and claimed to be a new family-devoted man. Mike Tyson, the former heavyweight champion of boxing, talked about most of his controversial behaviors – being in prison, addiction to drugs, turbulent, short-lived marriage to Robin Givens, bankruptcy, biting the ear of Evander Holyfield, and the death of his 4-year-old daughter.

Tyson finally admitted to himself and Oprah in the interview that he cannot go on with living his life in the same way as he has done so far. Though he achieved perennial success in boxing as its heavyweight champion, he ended up squandering his $400 million fortune, got addicted to drugs, and was imprisioned among others. Going through rehab two years ago, Iron Mike realized:

“If I’m not conscious of who I am, I’m just going to let myself run [wild], and I’m going to destroy my beautiful family, and I’m going to destroy  myself, and I don’t want to go down that road anymore.”

The Mike Tyson interview by Oprah revealed the following about his daughter’s accidental death and why the boxing great chooses not to know the details about it:

“I don’t know. I don’t want to know. If I know… somebody’s to blame for it, and if somebody’s to blame for it, there are going to be problems.”

Regarding his ex-wife Robin Givens, who called him manic-depressive and referred to life with Tyson as “pure hell” and “torture”, Tyson stated that the marriage was abusive “both ways”. Though Givens was a battered wife, he said that she abused him emotionally.

The Mike Tyson interview by Oprah carried on to the ear-biting Holyfield boxing incident:

“I was pissed off that he was such a great fighter … I was just mad at him. I didn’t feel guilty at all.”

Tyson revealed why he has not spoken to Evander ever since their last boxing fight:

“I see him sometimes, I think he’s a little leery of me. I just want to apologize. I’ve known him for such a long time, and I was just undisciplined. I was in a very competitive mood and I wanted so desperately to beat him for my own self-aggrandizement, and I was just upset.”

Oprah continued her interview of Mike Tyson to the topic of his old, destructive life which Tyson responded to:

“I know I don’t have two more years to live if I live this life.”
