See pictures of the world’s thinnest LCD TV by LG below. LG has developed the thinnest liquid crystal display (LCD) television panel that will wow the TV and electronics industry. Measuring a mere 2.6 millimeters (or a tenth of an inch), LG of South Korea announced the feat on Monday.
LG Display is the second largest maker of LCD TVs in the world. The new LCD TV panel by LG uses an ultra-slim, edge-lit light emitting diode backlight system and proprietary optical film technology.
In a statement released by the electronics manufacter, LG boasted that the 42-inch panel is so light that it only weighs less than 4 kilograms (8.8 pounds), perfect as a wall-mounted TV.
LG Display has also announced that it would showcase the world’s thinnest LCD TV at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas next year.
