Tiger Woods statement (FULL TRANSCRIPT!)

03 December 2009

Golfer Tiger Woods released a statement on his website concerning the allegiations swirling around him about his alleged extramarital affairs. Woods has made headlines recently, not for his supreme golf skills, but because of a recent car accident which was later on linked to an alleged fight he and his wife had inside the car due to the golfer’s rumored affair.
Woods then had to opt out of his own golf tournament, citing injuries as the reason for his absence. In his statement, Woods admitted his shortcomings and offered his apologies for letting his family down.
This is what Tiger Woods, the best golfer in the world, had to say about all those rumors:
“I have let my family down and I regret those transgressions with all of my heart. I have not been true to my values and the behavior my family deserves. I am not without faults and I am far short of perfect. I am dealing with my behavior and personal failings behind closed doors with my family. Those feelings should be shared by us alone.
Although I am a well-known person and have made my career as a professional athlete, I have been dismayed to realize the full extent of what tabloid scrutiny really means. For the last week, my family and I have been hounded to expose intimate details of our personal lives. The stories in particular that physical violence played any role in the car accident were utterly false and malicious. Elin has always done more to support our family and shown more grace than anyone could possibly expect.
But no matter how intense curiosity about public figures can be, there is an important and deep principle at stake which is the right to some simple, human measure of privacy. I realize there are some who don’t share my view on that. But for me, the virtue of privacy is one that must be protected in matters that are intimate and within one’s own family. Personal sins should not require press releases and problems within a family shouldn’t have to mean public confessions.
Whatever regrets I have about letting my family down have been shared with and felt by us alone. I have given this a lot of reflection and thought and I believe that there is a point at which I must stick to that principle even though it’s difficult.
I will strive to be a better person and the husband and father that my family deserves. For all of those who have supported me over the years, I offer my profound apology.”

Mayweather VS. Pacquiao?

02 December 2009

The Floyd Mayweather, Jr. VS. Manny Pacquiao boxing fight is all but done, sources say, and will most probably happen on March 13. It has been said that “Money” has agreed to the terms surrounding Mayweather VS. Pacquiao and that Top Rank Promoter Bob Arum will be going to the Philippines to finalize the deal with Pacquiao.
Mayweather-Pacquiao will have Las Vegas, Dallas, and New Orleans as suitors for holding the boxing fight. Mayweather VS. Pacquiao, a boxing fight featuring the current #1 pound-for-pound Filipino fighter against the former #1 P4P fighter before he retired, is expected to be the highest-grossing boxing match in history.
Boxing fans have clamored for Mayweather VS. Pacquiao after both had excellent matches against their last opponents. Pacquiao smothered and knocked down Cotto twice to earn a TKO win while Mayweather won a convincing unanimous decision over Juan Manuel Marquez. Mayweather VS. Pacquiao will pit the intelligent tactician of a boxer against the phenomenal, non-stop fighter.
Top Rank and Golden Boy had initially set May 1 as the Mayweather VS. Pacquiao fight date but opted against it, after Manny Pacquiao had filed for a seat in Philippine Congress. The Philippine elections will be held on May 10. As such, Mayweather Vs. Pacquiao had to be moved to March 13, instead of pushing it back to a later date.

Phillies beat Dodgers on Rollins’ double in 9th (VIDEO)

20 October 2009

Watch the video of Jimmy Rollins hitting a double in the 9th to help the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Los Angeles Dodgers below. Jimmy Rollins lined a two-run double with two outs in the ninth and final inning to raise the Philadelphia Phillies past the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-4 for a 3-1 lead in the NL championship series.
Because of the Rollins double in the 9th, the defending champion Phillies have a chance to wrap up the series at home in Game 5. The 2008 NLCS and World Series MVP, Cole Hamels, will take the mound for his team, the Phillies.
Jimmy Rollins had this to say about his double in the ninth which earned the Phillies the victory over the Dodgers:
“This is big. The pressure’s all on them.”
Down 4-3, the Phillies rallied with one out in the ninth inning when Matt Stairs walked on four pitches against Jonathan Broxton. Broxton then hit Carlos Ruiz, but Greg Dobbs looped a soft liner for the second out.
Then, the Rollins double in the 9th moment came, when he hit a 99 mph fastball to right-center and the ball rolled to the wall. Andre Ethier’s tried to throw toward the infield but was high and off line.
Jimmy Rollins pointed upward as he rounded second and got mobbed by his Phillies teammates at third base. Even injured Jamie Moyer, who just underwent surgery, limped out to partake in the celebration.
Rollins stated about the celebration that ensued after the Phillies win over the Dodgers:
“I’m all right. I had to curl up in the fetal position and throw some punches of my own.”
