John Travolta extortion case a mistrial

24 October 2009

The John Travolta extortion case was declared a mistrial by a Bahamian judge, after nearly four weeks of court battles related to his son’s death. Travolta filed for extortion charges against former Bahamian senator Pleasant Bridgewater and paramedic Tarino Lightbourn after the death of his 16-year-old autistic son.
Senior Supreme Court Judge Anita Allen declared a mistrial due to juror misconduct after an announcement from a local politician that Senator Bridgewater, one of the John Travolta extortion case defendants, had been acquitted, before the jury even came back with their verdict. Allen ordered a retrial for the John Travolta extortion case, though there is no timetable yet set.
The actor and his attorneys were upset over the John Travolta mistrial case. Mike Ossi, one of Travolta’s Florida lawyers, said:
“This came out of the clear blue; this was so weird.”
The John Travolta extortion mistrial case was initiated by news of Bridgewater’s so-called acquittal on TV two hours before the foreman told the judge that he and the rest of the jury was having difficulty reaching a verdict.
In court, John Travolta had described the medical condition of his son:
“My son was autistic and he suffered from seizure disorder every five to 10 days. He would suffer a seizure that would last 45 seconds to a minute, and sleep for 12 hours.”
The paramedic Lightbourn claimed to have a medical document that had Travolta’s signature, requesting his son be driven to the airport so he could fly the boy for treatment in Florida rather than go to the local hospital in Freeport. The actor admitted that he did not read the document he signed because:
“Time was of the essence.”
Michael McDermott, another attorney for the actor in the John Travolta extortion misttrial case, said that Lightbourn had kept the original form because it had the signature of the actor. He also added that the paramedic enlisted the help of Bridgewater to sell the signed document, with the senator telling McDermott that the document revealed that:
“Mr. Travolta either intentionally killed his child or was negligent, and that this document is evidence that Mr. Travolta tried to flee the jurisdiction with his child’s dead body.”
McDermott ultimately helped capture the defendants by secretly recording their demands audio and videotape. To prove the validity of the John Travolta extortion case, the tapes revealed that the parties talked about various sums of money that went to as high as $25 million. In the tape, McDermott said to Lightbourn:
“You know what we’re both doing here is a criminal offense.”
To which, Lightbourn gave a compelling “Yes.”
Bridgewater and Lightbourn were charged with conspiring to extort $25 million from Travolta. The John Travolta extortion case, now a mistrial, revolved around the death of John Travolta’s son, Jett Travolta, who had a seizure in the family vacation home in Grand Bahama island.

Lil Wayne in prison for one year

24 October 2009

Lil Wayne will face prison time for one year for possession of an illegal handgun found on his tour bus that had traces of his DNA on it. The rapper pleaded guilty to charges of attempted weapon possession. Though he will be facing prison time, Lil Wayne will only be in prison for 1 year, compared to a potentially longer time of at least 3 1/2 year sentence, had he been found guilty of illegal gun possession charges.
At a court in New York, Lil Wayne politely answered the judge’s questions with “Yes, sir” and “No, Sir” as he entered his plea to second-degree attempted weapon possession. Lil Wayne also acknowledged that he had a .40 caliber semi-automatic loaded gun on his tour bus.
When the judge warned the rapper that he would not be able to withdraw the plea as some people try to do, Lil Wayne stated:
“I’m not one of those people.”
Prosecutors had revealed that small amounts of the rapper’s DNA were discovered on the gun, thus solidifying the evidence that sent Lil Wayne in prison for one year. His attorney, defense lawyer Stacey Richman denied that the gun was Lil Wayne’s, and said that the testing technique was too problematic to disprove and refute.

Worst X Factor performance by John and Edward twins (VIDEO)

20 October 2009

Watch the worst X factor performance by twins John and Edward below. Twins John and Edward performed “Oops I Did It Again” by Britney Spears, which is the worst X Factor performance according to Simon Cowell.
X Factor twins John and Edward, dubbed the “double divas from Dublin”, had “the worst live performance” in X Factor history, as Simon Cowell said. Cowell even likened it to The Exorcist. However, the highly-critical judge said that the X Factor twins John and Edward and their fun and fearless performance had made him like them more.
Simon Cowell started out his critique of the Britney Spears “Oops I Did It Again” performance of the X Factor twins John and Edward by saying:
“My initial reaction was, ‘What the bloody hell was that?’”
Cowell then added, stating:
“…arguably the worst live performance I’ve ever sat through in all these years of doing the show.”
Simon had said before that the X Factor twins had “likability issues” in the past, especially after making other X Factor contestants cry. But in this performance, the twins John and Edward, for some reason, happened to make themselves likeable to Cowell. Complete with shiny red PVC suits like that in the Britney Spears “Oops I Did It Again” video, the X Factor twins indeed gave the worst X Factor performance ever.
The X Factor twins John and Edward even tried to copy Britney’s dance moves, but to no avail. They were never in sync and their voices were just off tune. Though many have complained about and went against the criticisms of Simon Cowell, the Britney Spears “Oops I Did It Again” performance of the X Factor twins John and Edward is indeed the worst Factor performance in the history of the show – regardless if they became more likeable to Simon Cowell.
